One of my Western teachers once said to me … “practice dying before you die, so that when you die you don’t die’.

The paradox of these words has stayed with me ever since. In 2010, we attended, by invitation, a Western Bali cremation, a purification rite that frees the soul for the next birth. Bali life and death combines Hindu elements and Balinese culture.  We were invited to take as many photos as we wanted.
